Design Validation & Verification

Why Design Validation & Verification?

The old adage, a picture is worth a thousand words rings for many reasons.  It is true that the brain can visually disseminate information at a higher rate than text.  Yes, but how much?    What if I told you it was 60,000 times faster?

Would it make you reconsider how you are asking your team to interpret data?  Thinking about your data:

  • specifications / requirements

  • vendor lists

  • project status

  • cost status

  • work assigned

  • tests

All of these items we tend to keep in text based lists, whether prose documents or Excel spreadsheets.  How easy is it to match these items up and determine the current status.

Maybe you need some more convincing - States listed in alphabetical order, States in a map

What state is missing?  Did you use the words or the map?
